Community recollections, burning desires and shout outs to local heroes will form a key part of a new local Arts initiative that takes to the streets of Glynfach in Porth on Saturday 26th June and Saturday 3rd July.<\/strong><\/p>

Inspired by the discovery that William John Moore who lived in Porth in 1911 was the last Town Crier in the Rhondda, producer Jennifer Lunn teamed up with RCT actor, musician and writer Sam Bees to bring back the Porth Town Crier.<\/p>

In the coming weeks, Sam will bring the character of the Porth Town Crier to life in two walkabouts, starting at St Johns Church and walking the streets of Glynfach between 3 and 5pm on 26th<\/sup>\u00a0June & 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0July.<\/p>

Residents are encouraged to join Sam on his walk and offer suggestions for \u2018cries\u2019 both in advance and on the day. Leeway Productions would love to hear facts and bits of history or legend from Porth, what people love about Porth and their favourite local places, the best people or businesses in Porth; events that are happening, clubs or groups that are starting back up or have been running all the way through the pandemic; residents hopes for the future of Porth, birthdays, engagements, anniversaries or even declarations of love!<\/p>

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

The Porth Town Crier events are part of Porth Y Cwtsh, a fresh partnership between Cynyrchiadau Leeway Productions, Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf and Age Cymru working specifically in Porth in the Rhondda.The project has received support from Arts Council of Wales, via its Connect and Flourish fund.<\/p>

As well as the Porth Town Crier, the project will see local artists collaborating with the local community on a variety of projects, from music and temporary public art installations to schools\u2019 workshops and more.<\/p>
