ACADEMI LEEWAY CALLOUT
Leeway Productions, in partnership with Theatr Soar and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, are reigniting Academi Leeway, a grassroots musical theatre academy for young people aged 14–25 – and we want to hear from you.
Calling the young people of Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerphilly, Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot!
Love musicals? Want to sing new songs that have been written just for you? Want to perform in some musicals you’ve created with us?
Here is another brilliant opportunity to create brand new mini musicals and perform them live at Theatr Soar, Merthyr.
Such was the success of our first project, we are now thrilled to be supported by the Ashley Foundation, Moondance and Margaret Davies Charity for this new programme of work.
We are looking for young people who want to develop their creative skills, who are interested in creating or performing musical theatre, and who are willing to push the boundaries. We welcome singers, musicians, composers, writers, designers, poets, beat boxers, artists or performers of any kind. No previous experience is needed – just a passion for being part of something new that belongs to you.

Project 2
Our second project, ‘Dan dy Draed’, will see you working with professional writers and composers and creating and performing live in 3 brand new mini musicals, all based on stories you want to tell. Alongside a director, you will create work to be performed at Theatr Soar in May 2022 and Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru Tregaron, in August 2022.
You will also take part in dance/movement, voice and acting sessions, building skills throughout the weeks.
We are looking for up to 15 young people aged 14–25 to be part of this project. This is a bilingual opportunity, in Welsh and English, and we encourage those of you who are not fluent Welsh speakers, but are keen to work more in Welsh, to apply. We will support you throughout.

Days: Tuesday evenings
Time: 4.30–7.30pm
Dates: 1 March 2022 – 10 May 2022

We are open to applications from anyone with a desire to create and work with new musical theatre material. Leeway is a diversity confident company, and we will do everything we can to support any access needs you may have.
